A couple of weeks ago I was watching a women’s conference hosted by Apostle Grace Lubega in Kampala, Uganda. The main speaker, Dr. Cindy Trimm, delivered on her assignment and my God, what a blessing this conference was. She has loads of nuggets that when you are able to catch on by revelation, you will be greatly blessed.

Apostle Grace had asked people to line up in a specific order and for some reason, they were lining up in the order that they were seeing others do it instead of the exact format Apostle Grace was asking them to follow. Then I heard Dr. Trimm says, “learn to follow instructions and not people.” That sank into my spirit immediately. In fact, I’ve been reiterating that term to almost everyone in the last two (2) weeks and rightly so.

Most people like to imitate without understanding. When we see others do something and the rest follow suit, somehow we assume it’s what needs to be done and we just jump on the same train, not even knowing the destination. In fashion, trends, everywhere you turn lately there’s always something new that people are mimicking or participating in. We are more comfortable with fitting into the mold than disrupting the mold. Why do you want to be like everyone else when your instructions or life manual is different from theirs? These are conversations I have even with my little boy daily about not succumbing to pressure and influence just to be liked or accepted or to be ‘normal’. It takes a disciplined person to follow clear instructions against popular ways or opinions.

The day I grew up to the age of learning that no one human being has the same fingerprint as another, was the day I promised myself to not be bought into the idea of fitting into anything that does not suit my DNA or pleasing people for the sake of it. Anytime I tried to fit in I failed miserably at it anyway so I dared to live according to my instructions for life and I pray that it blesses and inspires others as I run my race of life.

I pray for you this week, that the Lord will endow you with the spirit of discipline to stay your course, run your race as well and whether you turn to the right or to the left, may your ears hear a voice behind you, saying, “This is the way; walk in it.”(Isaiah 30:21 NIV paraphrased). I declare it is so and so it is in Jesus’ name. AMEN!

XOXO,

Lady Abena.
