Jeremiah 11:18-19 (KJV)
“Now the Lord hath given me knowledge of it, and I know it: then thou shewedst me their doings. But I was like a lamb or an ox that is brought to the slaughter; and I knew not that they had devised devices against me, saying, Let us destroy the tree with the fruit thereof, and let us cut him off from the land of the living, that his name may be no more remembered.”
Jeremiah 11:18-19 reveals the deep pain of betrayal and the hidden opposition that can come even from those around us. Jeremiah learns that people have quietly plotted against him, yet he does not respond with fear or revenge. Instead, he stands in the truth of what God has revealed to him. This passage reminds us that God sees what is hidden, even when others try to work against us in secret.
There are moments in life when faithfulness feels costly, and when doing what is right seems to bring resistance instead of reward. Jeremiah’s experience shows us that we are not alone in those seasons. God knows the plans of others, the burdens we carry, and the heartbreak we feel. When we are mistreated or misunderstood, we can bring our pain before the Lord and trust Him to defend us.
May this passage encourage us to remain steady, even when opposition rises. God is our refuge, our protector, and our faithful witness. He will strengthen us to walk in truth and keep our hearts from fear.
My prayer this week is that the Lord will help us to trust Him even when we feel misunderstood, opposed, or betrayed. May He give us courage to stay faithful, and remind us that He sees everything that is hidden. Be our defender and our peace. Let this be so and so it is in Jesus’ name. AMEN!
