Matthew 10:16 NLT
“Look, I am sending you out as sheep among wolves. So be as shrewd as snakes and harmless as doves.”
Jesus being part man during His time on earth noticed a deficiency in believers – we are too vulnerable and in most cases lack the shrewdness of the world. The serpent (Satan) also knows this too well about humans so he has used this weakness to derail destinies and lured us so many people into his evil web. Adam and Eve lost their place in the garden because of their vulnerability. The story hasn’t changed much in this 21st century. Believers are falling victims daily to the people of the world because we lack discernment and agility.
Our Father commands us to be harmless like doves, meaning we should not cause harm to anyone, BUT, in any and every situation, we should act with wisdom and not to be ignorant of the devices of the enemy which he launches through men. We need to understand the world in which we live both spiritually and physically. One of my favorite scriptures is Luke 16:8-9 MSG, “Streetwise people are smarter in this regard than law-abiding citizens. They are on constant alert, looking for angles, surviving by their wits. I want you to be smart in the same way—but for what is right—using every adversity to stimulate you to creative survival, to concentrate your attention on the bare essentials, so you’ll live, really live, and not complacently just get by on good behavior.”
I pray for you this week, that over and above all that you desire from God, you will desire the wisdom of Daniel that caused him to thrive and rule over his captors in Babylon. I decree it is so and so it is in Jesus’ name. AMEN!
